REFLECTION
Embodying Hope In This Season

“Hope is not a feeling to chase; it’s a lived practice to embody daily.”
Dear Community,
I want to share some helpful thoughts and a resource from recent conversations with friends about carrying and preserving “hope” through this election season's uncertainty and beyond.
- Hope is not a feeling to chase; it’s a lived practice to embody daily.
- Hope is environmental. It exists in who and what is around us — community care, the relationships we nurture, how we show up for others, our freedom dreams, and the visions we maintain daily.
- You don’t have to wait for anyone or anything to give you hope. By practicing self-care and community care, we can create a better world — one that is just, equitable, and thoughtful.
Hope Through Self-Care & Community-Care
For weeks, I’ve told friends, “Get your care plans together!”
As we enter the post-election season, we must care for ourselves and each other deeply and intentionally.
Here are some ways to do that:
1) Self-Care
Prioritize time to center and reflect. Disconnect, go inward, meditate, and reflect alone, away from constant stimulation.
Remind yourself of the truths you carry, the strong, steady, and reliable parts of you.
Adorn yourself with small comforts: favorite scents, cozy textures, warm baths.
Touch the earth; connect with nature. This may be a time to converse with your ancestors, visit your altar, or sit quietly with yourself, grounded and in tune.
Your body and spirit will know what you need—listen to them.
Treat yourself with kindness and intention.
2) Community-Care
After taking solo time, come together with loved ones, check-in, and find safe, comfortable spaces to gather and be together.
Enjoy meals, share stories, laugh, and let your collective love flow.
Create together. Art fuels our freedom dreams and builds space for our visions. Gather and create something beautiful, powerful, and uplifting. This shared experience will ground you and sustain you.
Treat your community with kindness and intention.
3) Special Event | Community Gathering (Virtual)
Join this safe space to connect and reflect together following election week. 🌻
